No Need for the Hotel Pool

In the heart San Pancho, Hotel Cielo Rojo offers an artistic boutique experience for the discerning traveler.

I discovered Hotel Cielo Rojo - The Red Sky Hotel - while reading an article about its founder, Mara Gisela Maraz. During her extensive travel adventures throughout Mexico, she gathered a remarkable collection of antique-style items that decorate every room giving the hotel its distinctive surf chic identity.

She has an eye for all things artistic and supports locals artists at the hotel’s small gift boutique full of one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing, handbags and jewelry that are worth a visit even if you don’t plan an overnight stay.

We came back to San Pancho twice to stay at this Mexican Hotel Boutique. A designation that took 5-years to earn and only offered to hotels with less than 100 rooms.

Just outside our room was an antique book case and upon closer examination, I immediately envied her collection of decade’s-old books that appeared to have been garnered from old and outdated collections of local city and elementary school libraries.

This renowned Mexican Boutique Hotel no longer has it’s swimming pool as pictured on the website but who needs a swimming pools when ocean waves are only steps away along the cobblestoned streets of San Pancho.
