Quick Fruit Salad Recipe for Our Picnic on San Pancho’s Secret Beach

At the southern end of San Pancho Beach if you look closely, you’ll find a gate …

Depending on when you’re traveling to San Pancho, the town and its beach can get busy. Even so, there is plenty of room to find a spot to take in the crashing waves and stunning sunsets that often showcase skimming flights of pelicans in relief.

We heard about San Pancho’s “Secret Beach” and had to explore. If you love hiking this route will take you straight into Sayulita. Accessible from San Pancho Beach, walk south past the estuary and towards the the rocky point where you’ll climb over a small outcropping of rocks.

A short climb over will then place you on another San Pancho Beach, which is a small fishing enclave full of shade. At the end of this beach is where you’ll find the gate, which is usually locked.

So it’s best not to climb over. Instead, intrepid travelers before us, paved a path around what was once a former President of Mexico’s home compound.

We discovered several tents with people who were long-term camping during our 2-months living in San Pancho. The mile-long Secret Beach leads to a jungle trail that will take you to Sayulita.

Papaya is one of the most thirst-quenching fruits, which is important when you're hungry and dehydrated on a hike.

Papaya is a wonder fruit for so many reasons. But it's hard to find a perfectly ripe papaya in many parts of the world. Originally from southern Mexico (particularly Chiapas and Veracruz), Central America, northern South America, and southern Florida the papaya is frost-sensitive, which limits where it can be grown.

While all fruits are great sources of nutrients, papayas are a fleshy topical fruit loaded with fiber and vitamins A and C and healthy plant compounds to boost your immunity.

Here are a few health benefits of regular consumption of papaya:

  • BOOSTS IMMUNITY: Papayas are rich in Vitamin C and help to strengthen the immune system and fight against diseases and infection. Papaya contains more than 200 % of your daily dose of Vitamin C! Apart from this, the fruit is also rich in vitamins A, B, and K which also boost immunity.

  • ANTICANCER PROPERTIES: Papaya is rich in lycopene, which is believed to help reduce cancer risk and is scientifically proven to reduce breast cancer tumors. Additionally, papaya may have some unique effects not shared by other fruits.

  • FULL OF ANTIOXIDANTS: Papayas contain carotenoids that can neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress in older adults. Oxidative stress can lead to chronic inflammation which in turn harms the immune system.

  • FIGHTS INFLAMMATION: A number of studies have shown that papaya helps reduce inflammatory markers in the human body which are considered to be the main cause of many diseases.

Papaya is also a storehouse of carotenoids that can reduce inflammation.

  • AIDS DIGESTION: Papaya enzyme named papain which is found in papaya can help make protein easier to digest.
